Senior Staff Product Definition Engineer - Ethernet PHY

About the role

The Ethernet and Networking Solutions Team develops advanced technologies for next-generation Software-Defined systems in industrial, robotics and automotive applications. It is looking for an experienced Senior Staff Product Definition Engineer to drive the definition, roadmap and market success of its next-generation Ethernet PHY portfolio. The role acts as a technical bridge between customers, product line management, marketing, system architecture and R&D, turning emerging market needs into differentiated semiconductor products.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and guide product development from concept through market introduction, turning customer requirements into successful products.
• Own and influence product roadmap, portfolio planning and future product definition across multiple product generations.
• Lead the collection, analysis and prioritization of Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS) and their translation into Product Requirement Specifications (PRS) with R&D.
• Represent the company at customer workshops, industry forums and technical conferences.
• Drive alignment across Marketing, Applications, Design, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Quality and Operations.
• Lead competitive analysis, market assessment and technology benchmarking.
• Drive technical evaluations and trade-off analyses across architecture, performance, cost, reliability, safety, security and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership during product introduction, customer qualification, design-in and launch.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Communications Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Typically 12+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Proven experience in Product Definition, Systems Engineering, Technical Marketing, Application Engineering, Product Management or a related technical leadership role in the semiconductor industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and teams globally.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Ethernet networking standards, protocols and architectures, including IEEE 802.3, SPE, TSN, MACsec and Ethernet PHYs.
• System modeling experience with Matlab/Simulink or comparable tools.
