Chief Engineer – Engineering Department Lead

About the role

The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Engineering Department at a luxury hotel, supporting all other operating departments and maintaining the building, equipment, and grounds in optimal condition.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of the real estate.
• Represent the engineering function within the hotel’s executive committee.
• Guarantee continuous production and supply of energy.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors to meet specifications, guest contact standards, and safety procedures.
• Optimize maintenance costs and manage budgets.
• Participate in and track renovation projects.
• Perform all necessary maintenance tasks.
• Propose operating and investment budgets.
• Recruit, select, and develop department staff according to company policies.
• Conduct monthly departmental meetings and annual performance evaluations.
• Comply with all Kempinski company policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an engineering team in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
• Strong ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs.
• Experience coordinating contractors and ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
• Leadership skills to recruit, train, and evaluate staff.
• Ability to participate in renovation and capital projects.
