Backend Engineer – Core Platform (Foundation Group)

About the role

Apify is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its Foundation group, the team responsible for the core platform that powers the largest marketplace of AI tools. You will work on end‑to‑end Actor execution, storage services, real‑time Actor Standby, proxy infrastructure, the public API, and the console framework.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services that run Actors from start to completion.
• Build and improve storage layers, including databases and front‑end rendering of stored data.
• Implement and evolve Actor Standby for synchronous service deployment.
• Maintain Apify Proxy, Unblocker, and the public API framework.
• Own the AWS infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teammates in two‑week sprints, code reviews, and automated testing.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience building backend systems and APIs.
• Strong technical background with proven ability to learn new languages quickly.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Experience working in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative, experiment‑driven mindset.

• Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Mezmo, Sentry, PagerDuty
• Frontend basics (React.js, styled‑components) for API consumption
• Linux command line proficiency
