Senior/Junior Scientist – Ultrafast X‑ray Diffraction (ELI Beamlines)

About the role

The Department for Structural Dynamics at ELI Beamlines seeks a motivated researcher to lead and develop user activities in ultrafast X‑ray diffraction and scattering using laser‑driven plasma X‑ray sources. You will work on cutting‑edge time‑resolved X‑ray experiments and contribute to high‑impact scientific projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the user activities at the X‑ray diffraction/scattering end‑station.
• Lead and participate in the creation of new experimental capabilities in time‑resolved X‑ray science, focusing on diffraction and scattering techniques.
• Contribute to the department’s research programmes within national and international collaborations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Experience with ultrashort‑pulse lasers and development of X‑ray methods.
• Hands‑on experience using laser‑driven plasma X‑ray sources (K‑alpha) for scientific applications.
• Scientific expertise in material science and/or chemistry.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
