Senior/Postdoctoral Researcher – Laser‑Driven Plasma X‑Ray Sources

About the role

ELI Beamlines is seeking a senior/postdoctoral researcher to advance laser‑driven plasma X‑ray sources. The role combines user support, development of new X‑ray source concepts and implementation of a high‑energy laser system in the E1 experimental hall.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and support operation of the Cu‑tape K‑alpha X‑ray source, collaborating with external users and optimizing beamline settings for experiments.
• Lead or contribute to R&D projects aimed at creating new laser‑plasma X‑ray sources, improving diagnostics and data‑evaluation procedures.
• Develop and implement beam‑transport systems for a high‑energy (up to 100 mJ, 10 Hz) laser, ensuring safe, reliable operation and adapting the system to evolving experimental needs.
• Provide technical troubleshooting, maintenance and optimisation of laser and beam‑transport hardware.

Required profile

• PhD in physics, laser science, plasma physics or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with laser‑driven plasma X‑ray generation and user‑facility environments.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with international scientific users.
