Accounting Team Lead / Senior Accountant – Prague

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Team Lead / Senior Accountant to join a well‑established Czech accounting and tax services firm in Prague. The position is hybrid, combining roughly 50 % team leadership with 50 % hands‑on senior accounting work, and will involve managing a dedicated accounting team while maintaining a personal portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop an accounting team, monitoring capacity, workload, deadlines and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the COO and CEO to set priorities, improve department performance and streamline processes.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training and off‑boarding of team members.
• Escalate operational risks, client service issues and complex tax matters to senior management or internal tax advisors.
• Independently manage assigned clients or accounting areas, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of accounting outputs.
• Prepare and review complex accounting tasks, including VAT calculations and Czech tax compliance.
• Promote consistent use of internal tools, checklists and automated controls across the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior accountant with deep knowledge of Czech accounting and tax legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an accounting team and manage a client portfolio.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the capacity to assess risks and drive process improvements.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with clients, senior management and team members.
• Hands‑on expertise in VAT accounting and Czech tax compliance.
