AI Platform Engineer

About the role

The Advanced Scientific Compute (ASC) team is expanding its on‑premise AI hosting capabilities. As an AI Platform Engineer you will support high‑performance GPU/HPC infrastructure, containerisation and automation, while collaborating with researchers across the US and EU.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and automate on‑premise GPU/HPC infrastructure, including servers, clusters and occasional cloud resources.
• Deploy, orchestrate and monitor AI training and inference workloads using Slurm, Nvidia Triton and Docker containers.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and use GenAI tooling to automate repetitive infrastructure tasks.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity tracking and scaling of compute clusters.
• Work directly with researchers to translate workflow needs into reliable infrastructure solutions.
• Maintain monitoring, dashboards, logging and alerting for critical AI components.
• Update HPC modules and scientific applications to ensure reproducible builds.
• Promote agentic AI tools and modern engineering practices within the team.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience, with at least 1 year on AI platforms or GPU workloads.
• Strong background in Enterprise Linux administration, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, container runtimes and job schedulers such as Slurm.
• Deep knowledge of NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, cuDNN, NCCL and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit.
• Proficient Python programming and solid DevOps fundamentals, including Git.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting distributed systems or compute clusters.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across EU and US time zones.
