Backend Engineer – SAP Sustainability Data Exchange

About the role

Join SAP's Sustainability Data Exchange team to build and operate modern backend services that enable companies to exchange standardized sustainability data across value chains.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production‑grade backend services and APIs for the SAP Sustainability Data Exchange platform.
• Design, implement, and operate event‑driven pipelines and AI‑enabled features with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Debug and resolve production issues, contribute to incident analysis and improve system stability.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows and collaborate with frontend, product and DevOps teams.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of professional backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM services and designing prompts.
• Strong understanding of OOP, design principles and RESTful API design.
• Familiarity with observability, performance tuning and system monitoring.
