Data Scientist Internship – AI & Machine Learning

About the role

Join Caterpillar’s Solar Digital team as a Data Scientist Intern and gain hands‑on experience with AI, machine learning, and generative AI technologies. This part‑time role lets you work on real industry projects while continuing your studies.

Key responsibilities

• Help test, apply, and improve generative AI models, especially large language models.
• Support development of machine‑learning models for Digital Twins and predictive analytics.
• Work with diverse data types, including time‑series, text, and structured/unstructured data.
• Assist in data preprocessing and preparation for model training.
• Build simple AI/ML pipelines and document experiments.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and mechanical engineers.

Required profile

• University student in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or a related field.
• Basic Python programming skills.
• Fundamental understanding of machine‑learning concepts.
• Interest in AI and generative AI.
• Experience with Git or similar version‑control tools.
• Good teamwork and communication abilities.
