Financial Markets Analyst - Index Review

About the role

The Index Operations unit, which maintains indices under STOXX mandates (including EURO STOXX 50, STOXX Europe 50, STOXX Europe 600, DAX indices, Bulgarian Exchange Indices and Customised Indices), is looking for a Financial Markets Analyst for its Index Review function. The role sits in a team spread across three locations and focuses on the periodic review of index compositions according to the index methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Review index compositions periodically, applying index rules within the time intervals defined in the index methodology and becoming familiar with a wide range of methodologies.
• Take part in new projects such as defining and integrating new index concepts into the periodic review, coordinating automation processes with the IT department and carrying out non-routine team activities.
• Work with stakeholders on methodology enhancements, regulations and client queries.
• Drive process improvements to ensure consistent data quality for equity indices at review.
• Communicate the results of the index review to clients in English.

Required profile

• Master's degree in finance, economics, econometrics or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in a financial environment (Index Business, Portfolio Business, Asset Managers, Product Development or Structuring).
• Understanding of the financial markets environment, its constraints and philosophy.
• Ability to work under pressure, handle several tasks in parallel and meet tight deadlines.
• Autonomous self-starter who learns with minimal supervision.
• Fluent English, oral and written.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and conceptual skills and knowledge of financial information and markets, including the impact of corporate actions on an index.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• SQL and database knowledge.
• Python experience.
• Preferred: corporate actions management, index operations, securities and listed companies operations, data cleaning and processing, and reference/market data tools such as Refinitiv and Bloomberg.
• Preferred: fluency in a second or third European language (Spanish, French, Italian or German).
