Head of Applied Science

About the role

Lead the newly unified Forecasting and Optimization function at Rohlik, the leading Central European e‑grocer. Your models will directly influence inventory, labor scheduling, and delivery planning across five markets.

Key responsibilities

• Own business outcomes of forecasting and optimization, setting targets and tracking financial impact.
• Define the strategic roadmap for automating decisions in purchasing, warehouse planning, workforce scheduling, and commercial optimization.
• Set technical standards, architecture, and back‑testing practices for production models.
• Merge Forecasting and Optimization teams, hire and develop ML engineers and applied scientists.
• Partner with cell leads, operations managers, product owners, and engineering leads to ensure seamless integration.

Required profile

• 8+ years of applied machine‑learning, forecasting, or operations‑research experience with measurable business impact.
• Proven habit of defining target metrics, shipping fast MVPs, and iterating in production.
• Hands‑on experience building production time‑series or probabilistic forecasting and mathematical optimization models.
• Experience working closely with supply‑chain, warehouse, or logistics operations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, able to translate model mechanics for executives.
