Information Security Engineer

About the role

The Information Security Engineer will be the technical backbone of 8am's security program, focusing on cloud security operations, detection engineering, incident response, and data protection. Working remotely from the Czech Republic, you will collaborate with U.S.‑based security leadership during Central Time business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Manage AWS security posture, triage GuardDuty and Security Hub findings, and drive remediation across multi‑account environments.
• Operate and extend EDR and SIEM platforms, author detection queries, tune alerts, and investigate suspicious activity.
• Lead hands‑on incident response, including containment, forensic analysis, remediation, and post‑incident reviews.
• Run vulnerability management cadence: scanner curation, severity SLAs, remediation tracking, and code/secret scanning triage.
• Administer KnowBe4 phishing simulations and training, and support WAF monitoring, IaC security reviews, and cloud account hygiene.
• Collaborate on data privacy, DLP, classification, and compliance controls such as PCI ASV scans and Vanta assessments.

Required profile

• 4+ years in security engineering or operations with real incident response experience.
• Strong AWS security knowledge (IAM, logging, GuardDuty, Security Hub, multi‑account patterns).
• Proficiency with SIEM query languages, detection tuning, and scripting (Python preferred).
• Experience with vulnerability management tools and remediation SLA programs.
• Ability to work independently in a distributed team and communicate effectively in written English.
