Junior Software Engineer – Avionics Displays

About the role

Join Honeywell Aerospace’s Brno team as a Junior Software Engineer focused on avionics displays. You will work on real‑time embedded software that pilots rely on during flight, collaborating with internal customers and global teammates. The position combines hands‑on development with testing on actual avionics hardware in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, verify, and certify real‑time embedded aviation software for cockpit display systems following DO‑178C guidelines.
• Design, implement, test, and document software components, ensuring they meet customer specifications.
• Execute predefined project subtasks and deliver work on schedule.
• Exchange system requirements, technical drawings, and specifications with team members.
• Participate in project meetings, presentations, and agile global development processes.
• Test the developed software on real avionics hardware/platforms.

Required profile

• University degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering).
• Proactive “get‑your‑hands‑dirty” attitude and willingness to tackle ambiguous tasks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a complex aerospace environment.
• Good command of English and ability to communicate across international time zones.
• Willingness to travel when needed.

Required skills

• Programming in C++ and C.
• Knowledge of DO‑178C certification standards.
• Understanding of avionics architectures and platforms.
• Experience with 2D/3D graphics APIs such as Vulkan or OpenGL.
• Scripting in Perl or Python.
• Use of AI assistance tools like GitHub Copilot.
• Familiarity with software configuration management tools (GitHub, Bitbucket).
• Agile development and requirements‑based development practices.
