Lead Data Engineer – Technology Consulting

About the role

Join PwC’s Data Management team within Technology Consulting in Prague, designing and delivering enterprise‑grade data solutions for banks, insurers and other large organisations. As Lead Data Engineer you will own the technical design, guide a team of engineers and act as the primary technical liaison for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own data pipeline and platform architectures using Databricks, Snowflake, MS Fabric and cloud‑native services (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Lead delivery of data engineering projects ensuring scalability, security and maintainability.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, CI/CD and Infrastructure‑as‑Code adoption.
• Guide integration of databases, applications, APIs and real‑time streams, both batch and streaming.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews and support their technical growth.
• Conduct technical workshops and present architectural decisions to senior client stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data‑engineering teams or complex projects with strong technical and people‑leadership skills.
• Deep hands‑on expertise in Python, Git, OOP, testing and design patterns.
• Successful delivery of solutions on Databricks, Snowflake or MS Fabric and on at least one major cloud platform.
• Cloud certification such as Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or GCP Professional Data Engineer.
