Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Novanta is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and validate mechanical products, systems, and fixtures that meet demanding customer requirements. You will ensure functionality, precision, and performance across a range of mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, develop, and test mechanical systems and components.
• Analyze complex technical problems, propose solutions, and make recommendations.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Mentor and coach less experienced team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with prior experience in mechanical design and testing.
• Collaborative mindset: actively seeks input, demonstrates humility, builds trust, and works effectively across functions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for design and modeling.
• Experience in design‑for‑manufacturing.
• Experience in design‑for‑testability.
• Strong project management capabilities.
