Mechanical Engineer Internship

About the role

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific’s XDB Platform R&D team as a Mechanical Engineer Intern. You will support the design, development and testing of mechanical systems that enable cutting‑edge electron and ion beam microscopy solutions for material science, life science and semiconductor applications.

Key responsibilities

• Work in compliance with legislation and the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Assist in developing new products while respecting cost, specification and timeline constraints.
• Collaborate closely with the design team to create components that are manufacturable, serviceable and reliable.
• Prepare and archive technical documentation for newly developed parts.
• Participate in testing activities, analyse results and help resolve performance or reliability issues.

Required profile

• Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Basic understanding of technical documentation, design principles and engineering materials.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio).
• Experience with 3D CAD tools for part and assembly modelling.
• Ability to clearly present work results.
• English proficiency sufficient for daily communication.
