Packaging Designer

About the role

Vilgain is looking for a Packaging Designer to own and shape the visual identity of its food packaging as the product range expands. The role is hands‑on, requiring you to create layouts, typography and production‑ready files while ensuring designs remain premium, consistent and feasible for manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the overall packaging look, keeping the system tight, recognizable and premium as the portfolio grows.
• Produce detailed packaging layouts, typography and files yourself, rather than only reviewing concepts.
• Maintain visual restraint by removing unnecessary elements and establishing clear hierarchy.
• Develop templates, rules and systems that allow 200+ products to feel like a cohesive family.
• Ensure designs survive real‑world production constraints such as materials, printing processes and logistics.
• Collaborate daily with the Packaging Manager and NPD team to translate product requirements into realistic packaging solutions.
• Proactively seek better materials, smarter structures and cleaner, scalable solutions.

Required profile

• Strong experience in FMCG or food packaging with a portfolio that shows minimalist, structured design.
• Demonstrated understanding of typography, grids and layout discipline.
• Experience handling large product ranges rather than isolated hero packs.
• High personal standards and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working cross‑functionally and not isolated in a design bubble.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator.
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop.
