Senior Analyst, Econometrics

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its Economics Institute data science and econometrics team. The role focuses on building and enhancing econometric models that support revenue‑generating advisory services and deliver quantitative insights to a wide range of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve end‑to‑end models, from data ingestion to statistical modeling and macro‑scenario analysis.
• Leverage Mastercard data for nowcasting and contemporaneous macro forecasting.
• Enhance variable selection and reduction techniques to identify high‑quality predictive variables.
• Refine model estimation methods and conduct back‑testing.
• Detect patterns or anomalies in datasets and produce concise insights for rapid interpretation.
• Research, integrate, and visualize econometric and statistical models, creating interactive dashboards and client‑focused applications.
• Collaborate with customers, client services, and product teams to translate business needs into data specifications and usable models.
• Participate in all project phases, from briefing and ideation to testing, feedback collection, and final delivery.

Required profile

• Creative and passionate about statistics, economics, data, and technology with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Strong foundation in various modeling approaches and experience managing large‑scale models.
• Demonstrated interest in machine learning and statistics, able to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in R, Python, Julia, or MATLAB.
• Experience with machine learning (supervised and unsupervised), natural language processing (NLP), and time‑series analysis.
