Senior Backend Engineer, Core Services

About the role

Apify is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Foundation group, responsible for the core services of the Apify platform. You will work on backend systems that power Actors, storage, proxy services, the public API, and the console.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain end‑to‑end Actor execution pipelines, from console start to container or microVM deployment.
• Build and improve storage layers, including databases and frontend rendering of stored content.
• Implement Actor Standby for real‑time synchronous services.
• Enhance Apify Proxy and Unblocker services to bypass internet restrictions.
• Maintain the public API framework and the Console framework.
• Manage AWS infrastructure, deployment processes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building backend systems and APIs.
• Strong technical background with a proven professional track record.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or ability to quickly learn similar languages.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Experience with AWS or other public cloud platforms.
• Experiment‑driven, collaborative mindset and good English communication skills.
