Senior Graphics & JVM Software Engineer

About the role

JetBrains is looking for a senior engineer to strengthen the JetBrains Runtime (JBR) team. You will work on low‑level UI support for IntelliJ‑based IDEs, ensuring they look slick and run fast on all platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain low‑level graphics support for UI frameworks such as Swing and Compose for Desktop.
• Implement new features (e.g., Java Chromium Embedded Framework), contribute to OpenJDK projects like Lanai and Wakefield, and fix JBR issues for upstreaming.

Required profile

• 4+ years of C or C++ programming experience.
• Solid knowledge of Java and JVM internals.
• Deep understanding of object‑oriented programming.
• Experience with multithreaded programming.
• Familiarity with system or UI development on Unix, Windows, or macOS (Cocoa, GNOME, Win32 API).
• In‑depth knowledge of modern hardware‑accelerated APIs such as Metal, Vulkan, OpenGL, or Direct3D.
• Ability to optimise and refactor code.
• Responsible, independent, disciplined work approach.
• Good teamwork skills.
