Senior PHP Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer to join our engineering team and help evolve a healthcare technology platform. You will work on the Expert Medical Opinion (EMO) platform, a complex product that connects members with medical experts, and contribute to modernising an existing PHP codebase.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications and new features using PHP and a modern framework.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and own features from concept to delivery.
• Contribute to the migration towards a service‑oriented architecture, applying Domain‑Driven Design and clean separation of concerns.
• Build and consume REST APIs, write high‑quality unit and functional tests, and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders in Prague and the US, and adopt DevOps practices with Docker and AWS.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of professional software development experience, strong expertise in PHP.
• Experience with a PHP framework (Symfony preferred, CodeIgniter also relevant) and backend web development with MySQL.
• Good understanding of software architecture concepts such as Domain‑Driven Design, Clean Architecture or Hexagonal Architecture.
• Proficiency in building and consuming REST APIs and automated testing (unit and functional).
• Fluent English and ability to communicate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
