Software Engineer, Backend (Java)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to drive core middleware innovation for our industry‑leading FlashArray and FlashBlade storage platforms. You will own critical backend infrastructure, modernize system architectures and extend capabilities into public cloud environments while ensuring six‑9s reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑throughput, multi‑threaded Java and Spring‑based middleware services that unify FlashArray and FlashBlade management.
• Implement and maintain multi‑versioned REST API specifications, SDKs and developer workflows for CLI, GUI and cloud interfaces.
• Build fault‑tolerant backend features and algorithms to meet six‑9s reliability standards, including integrations with AWS Cloud Block Store.
• Refactor existing services to eliminate performance bottlenecks, applying modern automation tools and clean‑code practices.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams through code reviews, technical discussions and cross‑functional planning.

Required profile

• Strong computer‑science fundamentals with deep knowledge of software architecture, data structures and distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience developing, testing and debugging high‑performance backend software and RESTful APIs.
• Technology‑agnostic mindset with willingness to work across multiple languages.
• Practical exposure to modern distributed systems and containerised environments.
