Security Researcher – Network & Applications

About the role

Cato Networks is seeking a Security Researcher to join its Network Security Content team. You will investigate network protocols and application traffic (L4‑L7) using big‑data analysis frameworks and tools such as Wireshark, Fiddler, BurpSuite, and browser DevTools. The role focuses on creating and shaping signature content for Cato’s security and networking products.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyze network and application behavior for products like NGFW, CASB, DLP, and more.
• Resolve customer problems and address pain points quickly and at scale.
• Propose and execute new research vectors.
• Leverage Cato’s Data Warehouse and big‑data technologies to support investigations.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience as an analyst or researcher in the cyber/security/network field.
• Strong knowledge of networking architecture, OSI model, and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP).
• Proficiency in Python with data‑analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy) or experience with LLM‑based coding workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with Wireshark and PCAP analysis.
• Excellent English communication skills and a collaborative, organized work style.
