Senior AI Engineer – Equity Research Platform

About the role

Versant, which owns StockStory (now part of CNBC), is building AI-powered equity research for individual investors. It is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to turn LLM and agentic AI capabilities into reliable product systems embedded in real workflows. The role suits engineers who want to work hands-on across architecture, implementation and operations, with direct access to experienced market professionals such as former hedge fund managers and top analysts.

The position is based in Prague and is filled through an Employer of Record, Remote Technology Czech S.R.O., which handles local employment matters such as payroll and statutory benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate core components of the AI platform: distributed agentic workflows, retrieval and reranking systems, model integrations and the infrastructure needed to make them reliable, observable and scalable in production.
• Build end-to-end distributed agentic AI solutions that are reliable and scalable.
• Own complex features or subsystems from design through deployment and operation.
• Integrate AI capabilities into products and data pipelines and contribute to architectural decisions and technical standards.
• Maintain observability and operational health, including cost metrics, quality monitoring, drift detection, alignment, alerting and incident response.
• Identify and mitigate risks in AI systems, such as performance regressions, bias and operational issues.
• Support the team's technical growth and improve model lifecycle management, monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing, building and maintaining software systems.
• A genuine interest in investing, public markets and fundamental business analysis.
• Experience shipping and operating multiple GenAI or LLM-powered systems in production.

Required skills

• Strong backend expertise in at least one strongly typed language, preferably TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of cloud computing primitives, especially AWS.
• Understanding of agentic AI concepts such as tool use, function calling, state machines or graphs, retrieval and reranking, structured outputs, memory, guardrails and evaluation.
• Experience with agentic workflow frameworks such as LangChain, Mastra or LangGraph.
• Building RAG pipelines with embeddings and vector databases, and evaluation pipelines including human-in-the-loop workflows.
