Team Lead for Actors (Node.js/TypeScript)

About the role

Apify is seeking a Team Lead to drive the development and scaling of its Actors platform, a core component powering AI use cases such as website content crawling, vector databases, and retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines. You will work in a small, cross‑functional team, combining hands‑on coding with technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale the Website Content Crawler and other core Actors that reliably process web pages at real‑world load.
• Guide a growing team of developers, set technical direction, and ensure high code quality through reviews and refactoring.
• Contribute to Crawlee, Apify’s open‑source web‑scraping library, and assist on platform‑level product engineering tasks.
• Reverse‑engineer website behavior, create developer‑friendly APIs, and integrate AI tools to accelerate development.
• Utilise AI (e.g., Claude Code) daily for prototyping, faster coding, and solving complex extraction challenges.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team or large technical projects, formally or informally.
• Strong ownership mindset, capable of making decisions and delivering outcomes.
• Passion for clean, elegant code and continuous improvement.
