Trim Engineer - Seat Covers Development

About the role

Lear For You is looking for a Trim Engineer in Pilsen to develop seat covers for its Covers business. The engineer is independently responsible for developing seat covers from the quotation phase through to series production readiness, and supports series production if needed, within the trim and foam specialist group. The role acts as an interface between the seat development team and the JIT and sewing plants.

Key responsibilities

• Control and manage development and component suppliers in coordination with customers
• Plan development needs with the trim shop, test and prototyping departments
• Review and evaluate customer specifications, and lead cutting investigations with the trim developers
• Create and coordinate schedules, monitor development against design-to-cost principles, and support sales and program management with change management and cost evaluation
• Coordinate component releases with the seating team and customer, and regularly review development progress
• Evaluate, document and implement change scopes, and maintain product data in the PLM system and the part life cycle
• Review and approve 2D drawings with the customer, and carry out route cause and quality analyses (8D reports)
• Define materials and release processes for OEM and automotive products, and monitor industrialization at sewing suppliers
• Review 3D models and support digital development in the early phase

Required profile

• Completed technical studies, preferably in textile technology, or many years of professional experience
• First automotive industry experience is an advantage
• Very good written and spoken English; German is an advantage
• Proactive, innovative, highly self-organized and able to make independent decisions

Required skills

• Good knowledge of cover materials and the production process
• Desirable: experience in quality processes
• Knowledge of OEM and automotive-specific material definitions and release processes
