Biosafety & Chemical Safety Specialist for International Laser Research Facility

About the role

We are looking for a Biosafety and Chemical Safety Specialist to support the implementation of cutting‑edge experiments at ELI Beamlines, a world‑leading high‑power laser research facility located on the outskirts of Prague. The role combines chemical, biological and environmental safety expertise to ensure safe operation of complex laboratory activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess feasibility of new experiments, technologies and equipment from chemical and biosafety perspectives.
• Design and implement safety measures, standard operating procedures and emergency response protocols.
• Prepare and maintain documentation such as laboratory operating rules, safety guidelines and internal regulations.
• Communicate with relevant authorities and ensure compliance with national and EU safety regulations.
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary Safety Team and with scientific and technical staff.

Required profile

• University degree in chemistry or biochemistry.
• Practical experience in microbiology, cell‑culture or protein work is a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn new safety practices.
• Proficient English (working knowledge).
• Experience in an academic research environment is beneficial.
