Legal Counsel – EU Employment Law (Platform Workers)

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in EU employment law to guide foodora through the complex landscape of platform work. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to protect the business while enabling innovative delivery solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global management of platform worker and rider classification risks, collaborating with international employment lawyers.
• Monitor and manage high‑profile litigation and regulatory investigations, crafting defence strategies with local counsel.
• Partner with Product, Tech, and Operations to understand delivery operations and the technology stack, supporting next‑generation solutions.
• Assist cross‑functional teams in exploring new business models and strategic opportunities related to platform work.
• Track legislative and regulatory developments affecting platform work and advise Public Policy teams at HQ and market level.
• Act as subject‑matter expert, providing guidance to senior management and stakeholders, with limited international travel (up to 10%).

Required profile

• Fully qualified employment lawyer in an EU jurisdiction.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a law‑firm environment with a strong litigation background; in‑house experience is a plus.
• Deep expertise in platform work and worker classification, including hands‑on experience with the EU Platform Workers Directive.
• Strong legal judgment and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across multi‑jurisdictional, cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication and drafting skills, including executive‑level presentations.
• Collaborative, impact‑driven mindset thriving in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
