Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Wabtec Plzeň, part of the Wabtec group formed after its merger with Faiveley Transport in 2016 and GE Transportation in 2019, is looking for a new colleague as a Design Engineer. You will join a team of experienced designers and specialists working on products for the railway industry.

Key responsibilities

• Design and construct new products and their components according to technical specifications
• Prepare complete drawing and technical documentation for new machines and assemblies
• Carry out design changes and keep documentation accurate and up to date in the system
• Perform technical calculations and analyses of proposed solutions
• Select materials, parts and purchased components
• Work with the development department on prototype assembly, testing and verification
• Take part in customer meetings and prepare customer documentation, maintenance manuals and spare parts lists
• Support load calculations, project management and continuous improvement of existing designs
• Follow internal design guidelines and project budgets

Required profile

• Technical university degree (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related field)
• At least 2 years of experience in product design or development
• Advanced knowledge of Czech and English
• Technical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills, independence and good cross-team communication

Required skills

• CAD systems such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks or similar
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Adobe Acrobat is an advantage
