Supplier Quality Development Engineer

About the role

Wabtec in Pilsen (FAIVELEY TRANSPORT CZECH a.s.) is looking for a Supplier Quality Development engineer to join its centralized Supplier Quality Organization. You will help build strong supplier quality across the Transit Region by assessing and re-assessing suppliers, approving initial samples, running FAIs and driving supplier development and issue resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and re-assess suppliers in your scope, approve initial samples and perform FAIs
• Manage critical supplier issues with Quality, Purchasing and Engineering, ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions and cost recovery (COPQ)
• Support development plans for selected suppliers and run supplier development programs
• Run generic and special process audits, follow up audit actions and manage PPAPs and initial sample releases
• Handle re-qualification of main suppliers and run supplier development programs with internal stakeholders
• Attend Top Offender meetings and QBR/QQR with main suppliers, resolve hot issues and report progress to SQD
• Plan audits, QQR and top worst supplier reviews autonomously and support corrective and preventive actions

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer or SQA/SQD
• Extensive manufacturing experience with mechanical systems, welding, assembly and fabrication
• Ability to read engineering drawings, including welding schematics
• Fluent English and Czech
• Legal authorization to work in the EU (no visa sponsorship); agency candidates need a formal agreement with Wabtec Talent Acquisition
• Willingness to travel up to 30% to supplier sites and Wabtec locations

Required skills

• MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Knowledge of assessment methodologies and experience with internal/external audits (ISO 19011, ISO 9001)
• Experience with welding (TIG, MIG, arc), cutting, grinding, drilling and assembling prototypes or fixtures is welcomed
• Hands-on experience with CNC cutting, bending, milling, brake press operations and testing/validation is welcomed
