Platform Reliability Engineer

About the role

Apify, a marketplace of tools for AI, is looking for a Platform Reliability Engineer in Prague. The role strengthens how the company monitors systems, handles incidents and routes alerts so engineering teams can ship with confidence. It is not on-call: the focus is on sustainable improvement rather than after-hours emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and improve the monitoring stack (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry): instrument services, define what to watch in production and shape alerting so teams get actionable signals.
• Help define incident handling: clear communication, structured learning after incidents, and supporting artifacts such as a status page and runbooks.
• Work with platform and product engineers to make reliability standards practical, help teams adopt better tooling or practices, and write documentation people actually use.
• By month 3: understand how the platform works, map current monitoring, incidents and alerts, publish initial observability and alerting guidelines, and take part in incident reviews.
• By month 6: work on bigger tasks mostly independently, own the monitoring and alerting improvement roadmap, and reduce alert noise and duplicate paging.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience choosing what to measure in production, and comfort with incidents and alerts from detection to resolution.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or similar, and alert-routing tools such as PagerDuty.
• Able to read and write code, follow services and pipelines, and collaborate with teams building them.
• Knowledge of good post-incident culture and ability to write clear guidance; driven to automate repetitive tasks.
• Nice to have: application or backend development experience, AWS infrastructure (EC2, EKS, S3, CloudFormation), container technologies, and some familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
