Senior Accountant I

About the role

Expedia Group's Corporate Functions are looking for a dedicated, independent and thorough Senior Accountant I to handle statutory accounting compliance for several standard companies within the group. The role involves improving processes and working with external auditors, the International Tax team and corporate accounting. It is based in Prague under a flexible work model requiring at least three days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with external auditors, coordinate the collection of data and explanations, prepare the audit file and act as primary contact for audit queries with manager assistance
• Work with finance and non-finance teams and external advisors so information is ready on time for the statutory accounts
• Work with the International Tax team on corporation tax issues for the covered companies
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, review monthly P&L and balance sheets per company before close, and help identify errors or omissions
• If bookkeeping is outsourced, communicate monthly with external advisors on local GAAP differences and compliance (document retention, local tax compliance)
• Maintain and adhere to SOX controls

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent is an advantage
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience
• Big 4 audit experience preferred
• Fluency in English; a second spoken language is a plus

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs and similar)
• Strong written and verbal communication
