Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with deep Java expertise to drive core middleware innovation for our industry‑leading storage platforms. You will own critical backend infrastructure, modernize system architectures, and extend capabilities into public cloud environments while ensuring six‑9s reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑throughput Java and Spring‑based middleware services that unify FlashArray and FlashBlade product lines.
• Own the REST API infrastructure, including multi‑version specifications, automation, and SDK productization.
• Support end‑to‑end feature development from API design through CLI/GUI integration, debugging, and release deployment.
• Mentor engineering teams across the Java ecosystem, establish code quality standards, and host office‑hours.
• Refactor legacy codebases, improve performance under high load, and leverage AI tools to automate routine development tasks.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering mid‑to‑large scale backend projects in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong ownership mindset with a track record of designing, building, and troubleshooting complex backend applications.
• Ability to navigate architecture trade‑offs and make clear technical decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and mentorship.
