Senior Data Analyst - Financial Crime Team

About the role

PwC's Financial Crime team helps clients detect financial crime by assessing, optimising and implementing their monitoring systems, acting as a regional centre of excellence for technical advisory mainly in Europe. It is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join its growing team of Data Analysts/Engineers/Scientists and AML Compliance Experts. The role is split between client work and building the team's digital assets.

Key responsibilities

• Work on client engagements: assess, validate, implement and optimise systems for detecting financial crime
• Analyse data mainly about customers and their transactions, transform it and understand its business meaning
• Assess data quality and suggest improvements to monitoring systems
• Communicate with clients
• Create data pipelines and automated controls, develop new visualisations, and program in SQL and Python
• Prepare new engagement proposals and stay up to date with developments in data analysis

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in data analysis or a similar field
• 3+ years of work experience in a business environment
• Eagerness to understand and visualise data, and to extract insights and explain them to non-technical stakeholders
• Basic to intermediate understanding of statistics
• Outstanding written and verbal English, with strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, embrace challenges and travel if needed

Required skills

• Python and SQL
• Experience with distributed processing tools (Vaex, Dask, Spark) is a plus
• Experience in anti-financial crime or banking is a plus
