Software Engineer for AOCS

About the role

VZLU Aerospace's Space Division is looking for a software engineer to build flight software and ground tools for Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS). You will work on real missions (VZLUGEM, AMBIC, QUVIK), commercial projects and products, and R&D that advances space systems capabilities. The work is based in Prague.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement flight software components in Python/Rust, translating control algorithms into robust, testable code
• Work daily with AOCS engineers, reviewing code, debugging integration issues and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Deploy and test software with simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and on real satellites
• Contribute to architecture decisions affecting satellite control systems
• Develop and maintain software tools used during system development and verification
• Iterate rapidly while meeting exacting standards

Required profile

• High school or higher education in a technical field (computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, electronics or related)
• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• Knowledge of code quality practices: testing strategies, code review, refactoring
• English level B2+

Required skills

• Git version control and collaborative workflows
• Linux environment and Bash scripting
• Unit testing and continuous integration
• Preferred: Python or Rust, GitLab CI/CD, agile methods, C, embedded systems, ECSS/DO-178, linear algebra, mechanics and dynamics, control systems or signal processing
