Global Commodity Manager

About the role

ESAB is seeking an experienced Global Commodity Manager to lead sourcing strategy and supplier management for a diverse portfolio of precision components, gauges, hoses, medical devices and finished products. You will work across the GCE Division, partnering with operations, engineering, quality, finance and supply‑chain teams to ensure cost‑competitive, high‑quality, and resilient supply.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute global commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Identify, qualify and develop global suppliers; lead RFQs, tenders, negotiations and supplier selection.
• Negotiate commercial contracts to secure competitive pricing, terms and conditions.
• Manage supplier performance on quality, delivery, lead times and commercial metrics, driving corrective actions as needed.
• Drive cost optimisation through spend analysis, benchmarking, consolidation, global sourcing and value engineering, owning defined savings/PPV targets.
• Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams on CE‑marked and MDR/MDD regulated products.
• Support operational teams with escalations, quality issues and transfer projects.
• Identify supply‑chain risks and develop contingency sourcing plans.
• Monitor and report KPIs, savings, supplier performance and market trends.
• Conduct regular international travel (20‑25%) for supplier visits, audits and business meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity or category management, preferably in manufacturing.
• Proven track record managing global suppliers across multiple sites.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with demonstrated savings ownership.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
