Senior Rust Software Engineer - Bare Metal & Datacenter Networking

About the role

Mirantis, a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Prague for its bare-metal orchestration platform used in AI neo-cloud environments. The team works on control-plane software in Rust and Go, uses Kubernetes operators and follows an OpenTelemetry-first approach. The role suits someone with strong software architecture principles and deep expertise in datacenter networking and DPU architectures, within a T-shaped engineering model.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain production-grade control-plane microservices, custom Kubernetes operators and reconciliation engines in Rust and Go.
• Write functional and non-functional requirements, architectural specs, sequence diagrams and gRPC/Protobuf and REST API schemas.
• Develop integration modules for network operating systems (SONiC, NVUE, Cumulus) and DPU hardware platforms.
• Instrument services with OpenTelemetry traces and metrics and perform root-cause analysis across distributed systems.
• Take part in review-gated pull request workflows with high test coverage through mock-driven testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in cloud-native platforms, systems programming, networking or infrastructure automation.
• Open-source contribution or maintainer experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Rust (Tokio, Tonic, Axum, sqlx) and Go; advanced SQL / PostgreSQL.
• Async concurrency, lock-free patterns and distributed state handling.
• Datacenter protocols: BGP, MP-BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, L3VNI, route targets; hands-on SONiC, Cumulus Linux, NVUE.
• DPU: NVIDIA DOCA, BlueField, DPF operator model; InfiniBand, NVLink, RoCEv2.
• Linux kernel networking, PXE/iPXE, UEFI, TPM attestation, Redfish, IPMI, BMC.
• Custom Kubernetes controllers/operators with CRD-driven reconciliation.
