Freelance DevOps Engineer

About the role

Devoteam, a technology consulting firm specialising in cloud, data, cybersecurity and AI, is looking for a freelance DevOps Engineer based in Prague. The role covers application support, automation and deployment, and also includes database support and infrastructure improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot applications so that cloud services are optimised for performance and reliability.
• Implement automation and pipeline code in a timely manner.
• Test and deploy software updates, new features and hotfixes using CI/CD tools such as Helm charts, Ansible, GitLab pipelines and Terraform across multiple cloud services (AWS).
• Develop database installation and upgrade scripts as part of CI/CD.
• Provide technical solutions and support for new or custom databases, including design, installation, upgrade, migration, backup, recovery, failover, high availability, hardening and monitoring.
• Investigate and propose solutions or workarounds for production database issues.
• Write design documentation, code comments and end-user documentation.
• Give input to Automation Architects on improving the scalability and reliability of infrastructure.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience deploying and supporting web-based applications.
• 3+ years of experience with orchestration and automation tools (Helm charts, Ansible, Terraform, YAML, Python, JSON) and cloud services.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes orchestration.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud and server architecture, REST APIs, microservices development and deployment.
• Experience building infrastructure-as-code pipelines with Terraform.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud services.

Required skills

• Databases: MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elastic Cloud, etc.
• PaaS platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• CI/CD tools: Helm charts, Ansible, GitLab pipelines, Terraform.
