Senior Scientific Data Engineer / Data Analyst

About the role

Merck is looking for a Senior Scientific Data Engineer / Data Analyst to join its medicines and vaccines business in Prague. The role bridges IT and laboratories, building reliable data foundations and integrating data into a data lake so that scientists can design new chemotherapies and medicines. It suits someone who enjoys data modeling, Python and SQL scripting.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and operate data pipelines for experimental, chemical and biological data
• Integrate scientific data from various sources into the data lake and prepare it for analysis
• Prepare data for AI/ML models used in chemical design and research workflows
• Ensure data connectivity and visualization in LiveDesign, DataGrok and Spotfire so researchers can use them daily
• Work with scientific and technology teams to turn scientific questions into functional data solutions

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience with the Databricks platform
• At least 5 years of experience with SQL and Python for data modeling, scripting, coding and ETL
• Understanding of AI/ML principles and ability to prepare data for model deployment
• Experience with scientific platforms (LiveDesign, DataGrok, Spotfire), ideally with a background in chemical, biological or pharmaceutical research
