Lead Data Engineer - Technology Consulting

About the role

PwC's Technology Consulting Data Management team designs, builds and delivers enterprise-grade data solutions for clients in the Czech Republic and abroad, including large banks and insurance companies. As a Lead Data Engineer you will lead a team of data engineers, own the technical design of data solutions and act as a key technical point of contact for clients, with the aim of growing toward the Cloud Data Platform Architect role.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own the architecture of data pipelines and platforms using tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, MS Fabric and cloud-native technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Lead the technical delivery of data engineering projects so they are scalable, secure and maintainable
• Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards and the adoption of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
• Guide the design of data integrations between databases, applications, APIs and cloud platforms, including batch and real-time integration
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews and support their technical growth
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, leading technical workshops and presenting architectural decisions

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data engineering teams or projects, with strong technical and people leadership skills
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, GIT, databases and software engineering best practices, including OOP, testing and design patterns
• Track record delivering projects with Databricks, Snowflake or MS Fabric and cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS or GCP
• Cloud certification, for example Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or GCP Professional Data Engineer
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, Bicep or CloudFormation
• Excellent communication skills, able to lead technical workshops and present to senior stakeholders
