Bid & Proposal Engineer - Digital Solutions

About the role

ABB is looking for a Bid & Proposal Engineer to join its European Operations Center in Ostrava, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The role contributes to creating proposals and supporting sales for digital solutions in industry, energy and infrastructure, working alongside experts in digitalization, automation and sustainable energy. It suits experienced professionals as well as junior candidates and graduates.

Key responsibilities

• Support the team in preparing proposals and concepts for digital solutions in industry and energy
• Review customer requirements and specifications and turn them into technical solution concepts
• Support technical and commercial proposals, including scope, costing, pricing and documentation
• Understand ABB's portfolio of digital solutions (Automation and Energy Industries)
• Collaborate on solutions in areas such as AI/ML, Digital Twin, Predictive Optimization & Condition Monitoring, Energy Management, MES systems and Cyber Security
• Work closely with Sales and the digitalization, automation, electrical, systems and software development teams
• Support cost calculations and collect technical and commercial inputs from internal teams and external suppliers
• Take part in customer meetings and technical discussions during the proposal phase
• Ensure proposals meet customer requirements, ABB standards and defined technical and commercial conditions
• Support the handover of successful proposals to project execution teams and occasionally travel to customer sites

Required profile

• Secondary or university education in electrical engineering, IT or technology fields, or experience in customer communication focused on technical or IT solutions
• Interest in the latest digitalization technologies and trends
• Analytical thinking and ability to understand technical and commercial requirements
• Ability to work with and structure technical information and documentation
• Active knowledge of English, written and spoken (B1 or higher)
• Proactive, communicative, able to work independently, willing to learn and confident in an international environment
• Previous experience with the listed technologies is not required
