Research Engineer

About the role

Cato Networks is seeking an experienced Research Engineer to join its Security team in Prague. You will work on analyzing emerging threats, reproducing attacks in a lab, and creating prevention logic that powers Cato’s cloud‑native security platform used by thousands of enterprises worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyze new security threats and develop IPS signatures and detection logic.
• Maintain product accuracy and a zero false‑positive rate while monitoring evolving attack techniques.
• Leverage Cato’s big‑data warehouse and related technologies to support threat research.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity.
• Strong knowledge of networking architectures and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, HTTP, SMB).
• Understanding of common attack scenarios such as exploitation, malware C&C, post‑exploitation, phishing, and network scanning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or a related field.
• Excellent English communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or PowerShell scripting.
• Hands‑on experience with Wireshark and PCAP analysis.
• Familiarity with big‑data technologies for large‑scale data analysis.
• Experience developing signatures for IPS/Firewall (advantage).
